I know it’s an obvious thing to say, but have you ever noticed that the “uncanny valley” only applies to humans? No one is ever creeped out by a photorealistic nonhuman. If they build service bots that looked like Godzilla, the things would sell out in preproduction. But an almost perfect Charlize Theron or Brad Pitt bot? Yikes. Only career pervs would even consider having one within spitting distance of their house. You’d happily let Godzilla deliver juice and fruit rollups at your kid’s birthday party. But a Theron bot? Yeah, no. The other parents would flee with their offspring like you had projectile plague.
