Today we travel to Africa for a bit of Nollywood – or at least, Pieter Hugo’s recreation of freaky folk tales retold in the Nigerian cinema. What gets to me is not his images of zombies and vampires, but the fact that they’re alongside real life portraits of the persecuted African albinos and – lord love a duck – a series entitled "Rwanda 2004 – Vestiges of a Genocide".

I had a Romanian friend about ten million years ago who thought most Canadians "lived in a vitrine". After my little sojourn to Mr. Hugo’s galleries, I really feel like she’s right, at least about me.

Road kill, zombies and genocide. I better not eat any cheese or raw wieners before bed tonight.
