ManWoman died this week at the age of 74. He was unquestionably one of the coolest characters ever to walk the streets of Alberta, Canada. I met him several times and was quite familiar with his work and his revelatory ideas. He will be dearly missed, not merely because of the loss to his family, his fans, and the art world, but because he was one hundred percent his own man. He bathed his life and his art in his own icons and avatars. Nothing was at arms-length. He was a true seer who had life-altering visions, and didn’t give a crap that he was his faith’s only impassioned follower. You gotta admire someone who blended the material and the spiritual so effortlessly and idiosyncratically.
