I came across California modernist Knud Merrild some time ago and bookmarked him for later perusal. I guess he was the inventor of something called the flux painting technique, “a process by which he alternatively poured, dripped or expelled paint from a dispenser onto a fluid surface”. In 1954, Mr. Merrild moved on to a quieter life.
